My career history:

  • 1998 - 2001 studied at Leeds Metropolitan University
  • 2001 - 2002 - Kiernan Construction, gained some good practical contracting experience
  • Joined EC Harris in 2003 as a graduate Building Surveyor
  • Moved on to Workman in 2006 becoming Chartered shortly after and progressing through the ranks to Senior Associate
  • Joined Paragon in 2017 as Associate Director in the Manchester office

My career highlight:

Promotion to a Senior Leadership position. This gave me a huge confidence boost and the acknowledgement that the hard work is worth it.

What keeps me motivated:

Family, friends and like-minded colleagues. Working together as a team is far more rewarding than individual achievement.

What I do differently:

Remain calm under pressure. I believe this attribute helps with decision making and enables progress to be made without undue tension and conflict.

What keeps me busy at the weekend:

I live in leafy Cheshire with my wife Sue, daughter Jessica and son Jack, and enjoy spending time with family and friends. We love travel and seeing the world and when Sue allows (or when I can sneak off) I try to enjoy playing golf, mostly ending in a long frustrating walk, although a beer at the end makes it seem worth while.

My favourite food:

Thai or Indian.

My favourite eatery:

Chaophraya for my fix of Thai or Fazenda if in the mood for endless amounts of meat (honey glazed pork belly….amazing!).

My favourite drink:

Ice cold Corona, gin and tonic or red wine depending on what mood I’m in / how late a night it is.
Strong coffee most mornings.

My favourite travel destination:

Has to be Thailand for the different culture and picturesque islands.
New York for an extended City break.
Devon for the staycation.

Not many people know this about me:

As a schoolboy I played rugby with a player who went on to be a World Cup winner with England.
